Key destinations

From riverine forests and high Himalayan passes to monasteries, grasslands and quiet mountain valleys, these are some of the signature landscapes that shape our Northeast India journeys.

Nameri National Park
Assam

Nameri National Park

Nestled along the crystal-clear waters of the Kameng River at the foothills of the Eastern Himalaya, Nameri is one of Assam’s most tranquil wilderness destinations. Its evergreen forests, bamboo groves, rolling riverbanks and open grasslands offer visitors a peaceful introduction to Northeast India. Travellers can enjoy riverside walks, rafting, wildlife watching, nature photography and village visits. Together with the adjoining Pakke landscape, Nameri forms an important conservation area home to elephants, gaur, leopards, rich birdlife, butterflies and remarkable plant diversity.

Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary
Arunachal Pradesh

Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary

Hidden in the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the Eastern Himalaya’s most spectacular natural landscapes. A winding mountain road carries visitors from lush subtropical valleys to cool cloud forests, waterfalls, rhododendron slopes and panoramic viewpoints. Known globally for its biodiversity, Eaglenest is also a deeply atmospheric travel experience shaped by wilderness, mountain cultures and the surrounding Bugun and Sherdukpen communities.

Mandala and Phudung
West Kameng

Mandala & Phudung

Perched high in West Kameng district, Mandala and Phudung remain among Arunachal Pradesh’s quiet mountain secrets. Prayer-flag-lined ridges, winding roads, cool forests and sweeping Himalayan views make this region ideal for photographers, nature lovers and travellers seeking solitude. In spring and early summer, rhododendrons and wildflowers bring colour to the hillsides, creating one of the most serene landscapes in the region.

Sangti Valley and Sela Pass
Eastern Himalaya

Sangti Valley & Sela Pass

The journey from Sangti Valley to Sela Pass reveals the dramatic contrasts of the Eastern Himalaya. Sangti is a broad, peaceful valley of villages, fields, forested slopes and the gentle Sangti River. Higher up, Sela Pass rises above 4,000 metres into a world of glacial lakes, alpine meadows, snow slopes and vast mountain views. Together, they offer one of Arunachal Pradesh’s most memorable road journeys.

Kaziranga National Park
Assam

Kaziranga National Park

Set within the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, Kaziranga National Park is one of India’s most iconic wildlife landscapes. Its tall grasslands, marshes, wetlands and woodland support rhinos, wild buffalo, elephants, deer, migratory birds and rich floodplain biodiversity. Beyond safaris, Kaziranga also offers Assamese hospitality, tea gardens, local food, handloom traditions and a powerful sense of nature unfolding on a grand scale.

Birding in Northeast India

Birding Tours (Our Core Strength)

Northeast India is widely regarded as one of the finest birding destinations on Earth, and our specialist birding tours are designed to help you experience its extraordinary diversity in comfort and depth. Based around world-renowned destinations such as Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary, Nameri National Park, Kaziranga National Park and the high-altitude landscapes of Dirang, our tours combine exceptional birding with breathtaking scenery, local culture and expert guiding.

Most of our itineraries are road-based and involve minimal physical exertion, making them suitable for both dedicated birders and nature-loving travellers. Tours are fully customisable between November and May and can be tailored around target species, photography interests, comfort levels and trip duration.

From the legendary Bugun Liocichla, Beautiful Nuthatch and Ward’s Trogon to Himalayan Monal, Black-necked Crane, Ibisbill and White-winged Duck, Northeast India offers some of Asia’s most sought-after birds. Whether your goal is building a life list, capturing memorable photographs or simply immersing yourself in spectacular landscapes alive with birdsong, we create experiences that are rewarding, relaxed and unforgettable.

Wildlife and safari experiences

Wildlife & Safari Tours

Beyond birds, Northeast India supports some of the most remarkable wildlife assemblages in Asia. Our wildlife tours combine comfortable accommodation, experienced naturalist guides and carefully planned itineraries that maximise opportunities to experience the region’s extraordinary biodiversity.

Explore the iconic grasslands and wetlands of Kaziranga in search of the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant, Wild Water Buffalo and, with luck, the elusive Bengal Tiger. Drift down forested rivers, walk quiet woodland trails and discover landscapes where wildlife remains an integral part of daily life.

For travellers seeking something more immersive, we also offer community-based experiences in partnership with local indigenous communities, including the Bugun people of Arunachal Pradesh. These tours provide authentic wilderness experiences while directly supporting conservation and sustainable livelihoods. Custom biodiversity expeditions focusing on mammals, butterflies, reptiles, amphibians and forest ecology can also be designed for photographers, researchers and nature enthusiasts.

Scenic and cultural journeys

Scenic & Cultural Tours

Not every journey needs a checklist. Some are simply about discovering extraordinary landscapes, vibrant cultures and memorable moments. Our scenic and cultural tours showcase the very best of Northeast India through comfortable road journeys, beautiful mountain valleys, historic monasteries and welcoming local communities.

The classic Tawang Circuit remains one of our most popular itineraries, taking travellers through the forests of Arunachal Pradesh to snow-covered Sela Pass, the magnificent Tawang Monastery, high-altitude lakes, waterfalls and dramatic Himalayan scenery. Along the way, visitors encounter centuries-old Buddhist traditions, colourful mountain villages and some of the most spectacular road journeys in India.

We also offer slower, more immersive cultural experiences across the valleys of Dirang, Sangti and Shergaon, where visitors can experience the traditions of the Monpa and Sherdukpen communities, stay in local homestays, explore agricultural landscapes and enjoy the quieter side of the Eastern Himalaya.
